Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Tapnetic LLC (“Tapnetic”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you use the Pool Scanner mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
1. No account required
Pool Scanner works without registration. When you first open the App, we create an anonymous identifier for your installation (shown in the App as Your ID). We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the App.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Pool profile: pool type, shape, dimensions, volume, surface, sanitizer and filter type, and preferred units.
- Photos and descriptions: photos of your pool or water that you take or select, and any problem description you enter, so the App can analyze the water and prepare a treatment plan.
- Treatment progress: the steps you mark as done and your re-check results.
- Support requests: if you contact us, your email address and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically
- Identifiers: the anonymous App identifier and, where applicable, technical identifiers provided by our service providers.
- Usage and device data: app interactions (for example, screens viewed and features used), device model, operating system, language, app version and approximate region derived from your IP address.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data.
- Purchase information: subscription status, product, transaction and renewal dates. Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never receive your card details.
- Advertising identifier: on iOS, only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt; on Android, subject to your device ad settings.
The App accesses your camera and photo library only when you choose to scan or upload a photo, and only with your permission.
3. How we use information
- to analyze photos and pool data and generate diagnoses, doses and treatment plans;
- to save your pool profile, plans and history and to sync your progress;
- to provide subscriptions, free trials and restore purchases;
- to answer support requests;
- to measure and improve the App, fix bugs and prevent fraud and abuse;
- to understand which marketing campaigns bring new users (attribution);
- to comply with legal obligations.
We use automated (AI) processing to analyze photos and generate recommendations. This processing does not produce legal or similarly significant effects for you.
4. Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us operate the App, under contracts that limit their use of the data:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — anonymous authentication, hosting, storage, crash reporting and analytics;
- Adapty — subscription management and purchase validation;
- PostHog — product analytics;
- Meta Platforms — install and campaign attribution;
- AI service providers — processing of photos and descriptions to generate the analysis;
- Apple and Google — app distribution and payments.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We do not sell your personal information and do not use photos of your pool for advertising.
5. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as you use the App. When you delete your data in the App, we delete it from our systems within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records (for example, transaction records) to comply with law. Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot identify you may be kept longer.
6. Deleting your data
You can delete your data at any time in Settings → Delete my data. This removes your pool profile, scans and photos, treatment plans and history, and your App ID from this device and our servers. You can also email us with your ID to request deletion.
Deleting your data does not cancel an active subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google and can be managed in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EEA, the UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us and include your ID from Settings → Your ID so we can find your data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, we process data to perform our contract with you (providing the App), based on our legitimate interests (improving and securing the App), on your consent (for example, tracking for attribution) and to comply with legal obligations.
8. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. Significant changes will be announced in the App.
